Dr. Pinnow is an emergency medicine expert witness. As an ER residency trained and boarded emergency medicine physician, Dr Pinnow works at a level 2 trauma center in West Texas. Additionally he serves as an ER Medical Director at a nearby rural Emergency Department in West Texas.

Dr Pinnow is Assistant Director for the Texas Tech Family Practice - Emergency Medicine Fellowship, and holds an Associate Faculty Position within the Texas Tech School of Medicine. He also serves as Medical Director for the Odessa College Paramedic Training program, offering him the ability to discuss pre-hospital care and management as well.

Dr Pinnow has been an owner/operator of his Democratic Emergency Medicine group for several years, which allows him to speak intelligently about the administrative issues that come with running a successful Emergency Medicine group.

Dr. Pinnow has worked in several hospital settings, from a high volume level 1 trauma center, Free Standing ED’s, as well as rural Emergency Rooms with no specialty coverage. Each setting presents a unique set of challenges to the practitioner, which Dr Pinnow can discuss extensively.

In practice for over nine years, he is board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Having earned Fellow status in both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Pinnow is has been recognized for his expertise in pediatric, trauma, neurological, and cardiac resuscitation.

Currently, Dr. Pinnow works 80% in clinical emergency medicine, with 20% of his time dedicated to education and administrative duties.

I am a practicing emergency medicine physician with a strong interest in physician consulting. For eight years, I worked at a community hospital, where I assumed key committee and administrative positions inside and outside the emergency room. I also taught medical and nurse practitioner students and developed the first-ever curriculum for the hospital’s emergency department.

In 2018, I stepped away from my permanent role to travel across six states and serve as a locum tenens physician at eight hospitals. During my year on the road, I got a close-up view of different hospital systems and procedures of high-volume emergency departments. I also gained more insight into the unique properties related to critical access and acute care hospitals.

After returning to Nashville, I accepted a staff physician at a teaching hospital, where I instruct residents and medical students. I also serve as the medical director at the Tennessee Recovery Foundation (formerly Tennessee Center for Change), a nonprofit organization that provides resources, support, and financial assistance to individuals seeking recovery from substance abuse disorders.
